The Cryptographer

Location: Control Room

You reach the control room just as the door to the helipad shuts behind Drs. Metzger and Goldwater. You have no time to stop them - you must regain control of the defense satellites before the Earth First Syndicate gets a chance to use their nuclear warhead. You search the room for any information that will help you tap into the satellite control system. Curiously, you see that a note and a flash drive have been left on the console.

Objective: Take control of the satellites.

Access Code A

Hint #1

Each access code uses a different cipher. Dr. Goldwater has given you example inputs and outputs to both ciphers in her note.

Hint #2

Once you figure out the transformation you will need to make, apply it to the Access Code input provided by the Satellite Intercept Node

Hint #3

She left you a hint as to what kind of ciphers she might have used. She is partial to Fibonacci sequences and anagrams.

Hint #4

The first cipher for Access Code A is a positional cipher. Just rearrange the input numbers the same way Dr. Goldberg reordered 12345 in her example.

Access Code B

Hint #5

The second cipher (Access Code B) could be described as a reverse Fibonacci. Similar concept, but built from right to left.

Hint #6

The second cipher adds digits from right-to-left to get the output from left-to-right.

Example Input: 12345

Add the last 2 digits (5+4) = the first digit of the output (9)
4+3 = 7 (so 97...)
3+2 = 5 (so 975...)
2+1 = 3 (Final answer: 9753)

Hint #7

If the sum is a 2-digit result (e.g., "13"), you enter both numbers, so the access code will not always be the same length, depending on what the input is.

Confirmation Codes

Hint #8

Once you have severed the link by entering both access codes, you will need to enter confirmation codes.

Confirmation codes are harder, because the inputs randomize every 12 seconds, so you will need to apply the transformation to the access code inputs and unlock it before the inputs randomize again.

Hint #9

Use the Sync Codes that appear after unlocking an access code to split up the work and help each other solve the puzzle together.

Hint #10

Once both confirmation codes have been unlocked, you can use the Reassign button to enter the Home Office agency control code and regain control of the satellites.

Agency Code

Hint #11

The familiar-looking ring of circles is the key to figuring out the Home Office Agency Control Code.

Hint #12

Trace Dr. Goldwater's rune over the ring of circles to get your 4-digit Agency Code. The points of the rune line up with specific circled numbers.

Hint #13

The code comprises the numbers at the following clock positions: 12, 8, 5, Center. That should yield the following code: 2358.
